Anyone tried Razor Core external graphics dock with laptop

HI everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has tried using this Core external GPU dock with a laptop or maybe a compact PC like the Intel Skull Canyon and has some feedback or comments.
My desktop 3930k, GTX690, 32gig ram has recently stopped working (asus rampage 4 extreme won't boot) and Im looking at replacement options.
I have been considering a powerful laptop linked up with the Razor Core Graphics dock with a Thunderbolt connector. The Razor Core will take a nice powerful current card ( was was thinking a GTX 980ti or GTX 1070) and you can then use a laptop to run Octane.
This will give me the portability to use photoshop, z brush etc etc on the move and then plug it into the power a full graphics card and larger monitor at home for my Octane work. Also, the core would be easy enough to move around and take with you on holidays, to presentations etc, much more so than a full PC.
Obviously wouldn't cater to the multiple GPU users.
Any thoughts or experiences
Cheers
