Roughness

Hi
I have just really started using Octane in Modo so apologies for what might be a simple question!

Is it possible to use an image map in the shader tree set to roughness. Other image maps work i other channels but nothing happens when a roughness map is added.
The same image plugged into the octane override roughness channel works as expected btw and the same map used for roughness in the modo render works as expected
It would be easier for simple materials to not have to use the Octane Override.

I also searched and found someone asking about the same thing in the Modo Octane roadmap thread, but that was from 2015

thanks for your help
Simon

Image maps in the the Roughness Effect are not currently supported, but I will add it to the next release. In the meantime you can create an Octane Override and manually connect the Image map to the Roughness pin.

Hi Paul

Thats good to know thanks, I think it would be good to have as you can then set up relatively simple materials without needing an Override.

Thanks again
Simon

Is there a table compatibility list for what is currently working on the modo material?

Pls see https://docs.otoy.com/?manual=manuals/p ... r_Universe. That page is slightly out of date (and I couldn't update it due to a server issue), so the up to date info is...

The following Shader Tree Effects should be able to be stacked on a material and will then push through to the on-the-fly Octane Material conversion.

Diffuse Color (Constant or Image)
Diffuse Amount (Constant only)
Specular Color (Constant or Image)
Specular Amount (Constant only)
Transparent Color (Constant or Image)
Transparent Amount (Constant only)
Stencil (Constant only)
RGBA (Constant only)
Luminous Color (Constant or Image)
Bump (Image only)
Normal (Image only)
Displacement (Image only)
Layer Mask (Image only)
Dissolve (Constant only)
Roughness (Image only)

Modo Unreal Engine Material

Modo Unreal Engine materials will automatically be converted to Octane materials for on-the-fly material conversions, but not when creating Octane Overrides.
