seems like video is running at nearly 2x speed.
But realtime gradient displacement look very coool. Why not in max?

At least if we could have displacement and normal map working together and not to choose displace OR normal map ... (personnaly i use to make big details with displace, middle details with normal and fine details with classic bump) ...

Hi guys,
normal and displacement can work together now in the last SDK, so it will be possible in the next plugin version based on SDK 3.4.3.
About the realtime procedural displacement in c4d, it is more a workaround than a real solution. Basically the procedural shader is baked on the fly in a bitmap texture usable with Octane displacement. Obviously has several limitations like tiling issues and could become very heavy for the system if you have more than one in the scene, and with high res baking.

thanks bepeg4d .. but cant we have this realtime bake?
I know the common way is through uv, but sometimes, why not? All other systems have this procedural workflow acceptance. Its just another score for octane, if we get there.

in 3dMax we decided to do everything that the user does not automatically work, and was looking for a spade to dig where
