Extreme close up material

Hey Guys,

I've been working on a super tight almost macro shot of an arrow. It's supposed to be old iron with worn edges. I'm able to create the texture however when get really close an zoom in the texture doesn't really look good. The edges are kind of blurry and just doesn't feel right. I can't cut the camera because it's a super tight shot then the camera zooms out.

This is my first time working with something like this, does anyone have any ideas or experience creating extremely tight shots?

Thanks in advance!

I have something like this.

Sounds to me that you need to up the resolution of your textures. How high really depends on a number of factors. First I would look at the resolution of your final image (or animation), then look at how much of the image is your object taking? A rough estimate would be something like this: The final image is 1920x1080 and the object at it's closest to the camera will fill 3/4 of the image. That would mean that the lowest resolution for the texture would be around 1440x1440. But to get the best quality you should probably double that to 2880x2880. Anything smaller is probably not going to look very good. :)
