Shot in the dark, but I'm guessing edge mode still doesn't work with any version of Octane?

Hi Rik,
I do not know if it depends on SDK; SDK is the same for all plugins, so if there is a limit, it does not depend on 3dsMax plugin developers.
I will try to figure out what they could do to resolve the issue.

Hiya Paride.
Thanks for being there and getting involved, much appreciated.
With regards the SDK thing, I was referring to something Smicha had said when I'd asked about Octane not having a scatter tool for max whereas Cinema 4d users DO have Octane scatter. Think Smicha had looked into it. Here's his reply...
'It's a Max SDK limitation. You can't "read" single elements of built in scatter tool. SDK only gives you the whole mesh.
At least i couldn't figure it out when i wrote my last render plugin.
So Otoy either has to write their own scattering tool for Octane (like Corona developers have done it) or you have to use 3rd party plugins.'
Would you recommending multiscatter over forest pack? Seems like most users use forest pack.
I currently use Avizstudio tiles to make brick walls and tiles but the repeated components (bricks and roof tiles) are not instances.
Do you know if multiscatter could create a wall of instanced bricks?

Hi Rik,
3dsMax's philosophy has always been about using "plugins", actually the internal 3dsMax scatter is not the best..
Pflow is in 3dsMax (no plugin) is a very powerful tool that you can use for vegetation and as in Atiles.
Octane 3dsMax plugin 4.39 release will have the supported Pflow scatter, so very useful.
Unfortunately it does not have a user frendly interface.
Forest packs and Multiscatter are good tools, perhaps Forest pack more user frendly than Multiscatter and with useful libraries and presets to help with an Archviz workflow.
To work as in Atiles Railcone is the choice, it is instantiated.

Useful info there, thanks.
Hadn't thought of railclone before for bricks and tiles. I've downloaded the lite version so will have a play.
I've used pflow before but as it didn't make instances I just used it to make a huge map of rooftiles with random distribution of the shades. It worked ok. If Pflow will use instances then that could be really handy.
Not sure how the workflow would go for distributing plants around a path for instance but guess it will need some playing with.
Any ETA on 4.39?
Liking the word 'instantiated'
I now have a 7 day trial of Phantom architecture to see if his displacement correction is as good as it appears.
Don't understand though - if he's able to fix the displacement issue on corners, surely the Octane crew should also have been able to by now?
Give him a job!
