SU Viewport No Render

When I first create a model in SU 2016 the Octane VP works fine. If I change a material the render disappears. I have to restart SU in order to make it work again but then any changes to materials it disappears again. it goes white, not even the watermark shows. I do hit the refresh button. Could it be my graphics card M4000? If so I am planning to get Titan X's.
Any help is appreciated.
