Does octane's frame buffer use vram from the display card only or if you have more cards they lose vram on frame buffer as well?

Yes, Octane will always set the memory limit to the lowest memory card that you have setup to render on. This is one of the reasons why it's best to have a dedicated card for your monitor(s) and then one or more cards that are just for rendering. Also rendering on a card that has a monitor plugged in to it will slow down the card as it has to do two things at once. Not only slowing down the render but also slowing down your system's responsiveness as well.
I use an old GTX460 for my two monitors, and then I have a GTX980 for rendering and it works very well with no slowdown or lost memory for the system or the render. It doesn't mean that you can't add in the card with the monitor connected to it when you need that extra speed boost and vram isn't an issue.

Hi atmos89,
just for adding that in v3, frame buffer has been removed from VRAM and moved to system RAM, so this is no more an issue.
