Hi All,

I have downloaded the Octane demo.

Is there any way to demo the Houdini plugin as well. I find the default Octane demo non-intuitive and would like to test Octane in the environment that I will be using it in.

if you click the button "View the list of plugins" in the same page where you have downloaded the Standalone demo, you can find the Houdini demo section with a version for each operating system:
Windows
Linux
Mac Os X
Note that currently the demo version is not based on the latest commercial version, but all the major features should be available.

I copied the contents of the Octane_3.00.20.0_Houdini_15.5.480_Win64 into my Houdini15.5 folder. I am running version 15.5.607.
I got the plugin up and running but Octane only renders black.

I altered my Houdini.env file like so. The plugin shows up in my tools bar.
I add a light, camera and sphere to my scene.
From Left To Right I click Octane, RTarget then IPR buttons.

The IPR comes up and shows me a black screen.

One of the problems is that the plugin build and the Houdini version that you are using don't match. You should download the latest demo build from the below link, and test the plugin for the 15.5.565 build with Houdini 15.5.565 (the latest Houdini production build should work also, from the tests I've made here).

Also, if you get a black image in the IPR, but the IPR state is "RENDERING", you should check the state of the GPUs in the plugin options panel. Be sure that at least one of the GPUs used for rendering has the "Use for tonemap" option enabled.
