live viewer proportions

hi,

i have been having this issue in the prior versions, too. never brought it up thoug... but maybe i am just missing a checkbox or such...

i have a layout in which there is a window seperated in 2 parts: on the left, there is the editor, on the right there is the live viewer.
now, if i choose to work in a vertical format like, let's say, 720*1280 or such, the live viewer looses it's format/proportions easily.
i made some screenshots, showing the progression, beginning with a very "thin" lv-format, which seems to show the frame proportions correctly, indicated by the red horizontal lines.
but the more i widen the lv-window, the more it looses it's proportions. i hope the screenshots show what i mean in a clearer manner:

It works correct. Compare at same output size on Picture viewer.

i hoped that the screenshot would show what i mean.

i see in your screenshot, that you use a wide format.
would you please try it again with a vertical format, just as i did in my screenshots?

not to confuse things: if i go on and render whatever situation the live viewer shows me in the picture viewer, the rendering indeed is correct.
my point was not about the picture viewer though.

Width is reference value is LV. And imagine that you're making different image ratios. Hoping same result on this case. Sorry that's not possible as mathematically.

well, within c4d's own editor/viewer it seems to be possible to show the exact frame, that your resolutions settings provide.
or maxwell, as another example. when i use the mxwell fire preview window, this one also allows to see the exact frame, no matter how the rendersettings are set resolution-wise and how ever i scale, widen or what ever i do with the fire-window.

horizontally, the live viewer seems to do that as well, since i see red horizonal lines, that seem to indicate the boundaries of the frame.
but this obviously this reaches it's capabilites quite soon.

i don't know, what you mean by "mathematically", but i have no real clue of mathematics anyhow, so...
from what i understand: it is not possible for you to set up the live viewer in a way, that it always exactly represents the frame, is that correct?

well... since i see others doing it (c4d-viewer, maxwell-fire window, maybe others i wouldn't knwo about...), i would like to make this a wish for upcoming releases.
it would be really nice to see the content of a frame within the live viewer a 100%.

thank you.

Sorry but i don't see any issue here. LV uses red lines to show where's SAFE area ends. It's safe area lines which comes from viewport. It stay on out-side of window when you make LV so wider than viewport. Request is not fitting on my logic. Sorry.

i believe that it's just communication problems due to my lack of english skills.
so i'll try to find a straight answer to a (i hope) straight question:
in the current plug-in version, is it - in your eyes - always possible to see the exact frame content in the live viewer, no matter what proportions the set resolution determines?

You should go with "LOCKRES" button on LV if it's your purpose to get a resolution like "400*1200", etc....
