TR via Render Queue / OC 3.03.3

Just a quick question regarding TR via Render Queue:

I have 3 clients that render via the Octane daemon. ATM I have some animations where the distribution of the data takes quite some time in relation to the actual render time. I am thinking about buying a 3 pack of plugins so I can use C4D's Team Render Clients and every client can render its own frames and the distribution time is minimized.

My question is:
The clients are not connected to the internet, only for the first activation of the standalone. Does this work the same way with the plugin?
Do I install the plugin in the TR client's plugin folder, start the TR client while the machine is online, activate the plugin and take it offline again?

And: Is anyone here using Octane with C4D's TR? Any problems?

Plugin should work in TR mode as in normal mode.
Offline mode still needs some internet connection to check licenses by some long period. Maybe after a week or so.

Sorry to open this old thread again - still the same situation and I would like to have a definite answer before I shell out $ 750.-

Is anybody here using the C4D plugin with TR clients that normally aren't connected to the internet?

Because the v3 plugin on my workstation is connecting every time I start Cinema and it can't do that with my clients. It's a hassle to switch their network settings so that they can activate the Octane Standalone at every update, but it's completely impractical to do this all the time. Even once a week would be a nuisance.

Hi zoppo,
do you mind to share why you cannot have an active internet connection on your network clients?

I don't mind at all - they don't have security measures like a firewall, UAC, anti-virus and so on, and as long as they are offline they don't need it.
Plus they are in a private subnet separated from the other office computers.

And since X-Particles has fabulously resolved the always online issue, Octane is the only software I use that needs to be online.

Sooooo ... no replies?

Someone has to know how often the plugin needs an online connection, someone has coded that behaviour into it. Should I ask in the general section?

Hi zoppo,
oops sorry, yes please, since the activation system is not directly related with plugin.
Happy rendering,

Activation does indeed work the same way in standalone and all Octane plugins.

If you intend to have some or all of your nodes offline you will need to use the offline licensing mode, all the information you need to know about how it works it in the docs:

https://docs.otoy.com/StandaloneH/Stand ... Access.htm

Note that for using offline mode you need a full license (in contrast to VR/subscriptions).

I already know about the offline mode as my standalone licenses use it. I just thought it might be different with the plugins because my workstation connects every time I start the plugin.
But of course my workstation isn't in offline mode - d'oh!

Thanks a lot for the clarification.
