How to lock render viewport

Hi,
Sorry I'm a new user and it's probably a noob question but I didn't found anywhere an answer: When I edit materials the render viewport switches to the sample material sphere. How to make Octane still on the render viewport?
When I have a hudge scene it takes ages to reload it each time i switch to edit a material and go back to see the whole scene in camera view. I don't need this material sample, I want to see how the changes affects all the scene in real time
