Vray has a lot of video tutorials from Chaos we do not even have a proper manual. It is just a guess game with cranking numbers up and down not really seeing the difference after it was done

We are using OCtane Volume and scattering medium but we are not sure what is the best proper way to adjust. is it in volume medium or in scattering medium or do we need to use.
Please make a couple of video tutorials how to set u pnice looking camp fire or explosion. How to adjust smoke shade use smoke ramps for different color smoke etc

Thanks

Hi,

Apologies for the lack of video content at the moment. We will do what we can to speed up production of more video-based resources. We are also increasing documentation content as well, though we need to refactor key parts of the website in response to major changes. One area that needs to be amended is the Search functionality, to make getting information from the manuals easier.

Any other suggestions for video content would be welcome.

We're working on a video right now that has tons of smoke renders using Octane V3 inside 3dsmax using FumeFX 4.0. It will go on our youtube channel on the 22nd at http://www.youtube.com/corridordigital

I spent a bunch of time trying to figure out this workflow and I think I've got it. On our second channel we'll feature a little bit of the "how to" but probably not as specific as you'd like. I may try to record something if there's enough interest. In the mean time you can brush up on MTimTam's tutorial for the Standalone edition AND read the manual on the Octane Volume feature:
https://docs.otoy.com/#60Volumes

You basically just place your Octane Volume object, select your VDB sequence (and number of frames), and apply a Volume Medium map to your map slot on the Octane Volume. (Map > Octane 3 > Volume Medium).
These settings work great for the kind of smoke I've been making (creamy milk type smoke). The only thing you really vary is the Density and Volume Step Length.

The above settings are all that is used for rendering the smoke at the top. Only light is a daylight and there's a shadow catching ground plane.

Also, when you make the Octane Volume in max, you just go to the first create tab and at the bottom under Octane, create a Volume like you would a primitive. It'll look like this:
