Octane Standalone not recognizing my GPU?

Hey guys, I have very recently got the student version of Octane and I have been attempting to work within the standalone version. When I first opened Octane I realized that immediately below the render window it says in red text:

"0 Textures, 0 Tris, 0 Meshes, no CUDA GPUs, -/0/0 MB"

I simply added a mesh into the project and decided to try it anyways, however Octane will not render anything. I have tried with many different obj files and still... no dice. I went into my preferences and over to the CUDA Device tab. It says that my device... (GeForce GTX 960M (compute model 5.0)) is available. And my CUDA driver version is 7.50. This is my first time working with CUDA and with octane so I am rather lost and I do not understand why Octane is not using my device if it is considered "available". Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks so much.

UPDATE:
I have opened the log and found this error. I don't know if it will help resolve my issue, but here it is.

Hi !

As far as i know V 1.20 is only compatible with compute model 2.1 and below (if i remember correctly), it seems your GPU is too new to be recognized...

Same thing is happening with my Gtx 1080

Hi guys,
yes, correct, the student license is obsolete and will be discontinued soon. Otoy is working on it and at this link you can read the latest news about this argument ;)
ciao beppe

Student version was great a few years ago.. but today it's useless. i think they will add a subscription system when the new version comes out
