Can somebody help me?
I use cinema 4d plugin. When i render for example 1000 hair octane always say that it is rendering more than 1000 hair.
When i try to render many hair it always crash.. even if i have lots of memory left

Hod does hair work in octane in version 3? Because there are only video about v 2

Version 3 of octane and cinema 4d r17.
It renders hair in very fast way but it seems it can't handle many hair

I don't know how much strands you mean. Also it's not a plugin issue. I hope you're on one of 3.03.2 builds. And notify that LV and PV may have different hair counts.

I ve noticed that for example 1000 hair with 15 segment per hair will be counted as 15000 hair ( 1000x15 )

we have many v3 builds. Which one? Did you tried with latest build? And please post a scene which is crashing. If there is a hard limit due VRAM amount or RAM i cannot do anything.

Octane-for-C4D-V3.03.2-R4-win so i think it's the latest!
As you can see in the picture i menage to render all the hair by reducing the segment from 40 to 15 for every hair. But now they are obviusly edgy. I have 2 gb 960 gtx and the scene is about 1 gb o vram. I have 24 gb of ram so i can't understand the problem.

You may think to post scene and bugreport. So we can try to reproduce crash. Otherwise check ram usage and vram usage on export and render. Try to stay in limits. But there's nothing to fix in plugin side i suppose. Anw we read statistics from renderer as triangle or hair counts. I have no idea why hair count is like that.

Start with less, thicker hair, set your segments to the amount you desire, and render. Then work back up from there. Your hair looks too dense and thin to me, although that is likely the look you prefer. Best to send Aoktar the scene like he has requested, as he is really shooting in the dark without it. He has ALWAYS been very responsive and helpful when I have sent him problem scenes in the past. Help him to help yourself.
Also, if you post a scene in this thread, others might be able to offer you some direct advice as well.
Good luck!

This is a simple example, look at the hair count in c4d and in octane.
I would love to upload the scene here but.. i really do not know how to do it.
Forgive my ignorance
