Hi,

anyone got some web-links about infos, explanations, tutorials und use
of following passes:

geometric normals
shading normals
position
texture coordinates
tangent
vertex normal
object layer id
render layer mask
tangent normal
baking group id
transmission filter
object layer color
reflection
reflection D
reflection I
reflection filter
reflection filter (at the bottom in "Material Passes")
IOR
IOR filter

I mostly only use Mat-ID, reflection D, reflection I, diffuse D, diffuse I and emitters -. but whats about the rest?
Lots of them are rendering black.
I would like to know whats the use of these passes and how to use them?

thanks
Mike

Hi miohn,
here are some links:
Info passes: since Octane doesn't have a classic viewport, info passes can offer some good rappresentation of the scene for checking purposes like vertex normal, shading normals, texture coordinates and wireframe; or to get useful passes for compositing like position, z-depth or vector motion blur; or to get different solid color masking like with object layer ID or baking group ID, for example.
Material passes: with the new baking feature of v3, this passes gives all the necessary textures to recreate the material in Octane or in other applications like real time game engines.

Hi beppe,

thanks, but I was looking more for something like an AfterEffects or PSD tutorial
on how to "use" all these strange passes. Maybe with real world examples.
Of course I know whats a depth-pass, an AO-Pass and a vector-motion-pass
and how to use them.
So you mean that all these other passes like "normal tangent", "geometric normals",
"shading normals", "texture coordinates" etc.etc. etc. are only used to check scenes?

thanks
Mike
