Hi,

The latest version of the Octane standalone contains experimental support for Pascal GPUs. There are still a number of stability issues, partly due to this being the early stages, and partly because there is only an RC version available until August.

At the moment, it is possible to either add support for this new rendering core for the next release, or wait a little longer to support the stable release version of CUDA 8.0 instead, given that the support is still not production-ready.

C4D users can now use 1080's - Will 3dsmax users be able to use theirs as well?

Hi,

Here is the earliest version plugin to support the 3.03.1 standalone, which supports Pascal GPUs (e.g. GTX 1080) - viewtopic.php?f=80&t=55377

Bear in mind, Nvidia has only released a Release Candidate version of CUDA 8.0. We are still awaiting the final release of CUDA 8.0.

Hi,

Just a reminder - support for CUDA 8.0 is based on the Release Candidate version. Because of this, issues and bugs are to be expected. The full release of 8.0 will arrive this month (according to NVIDIA), which will likely resolve any issues you may potentially have (until the proper 8.0 is available).

Hi,

The latest test builds do support the GTX 1080. They remain in the test releases, mainly because the 8.0 toolkit itself is not the final version. Nvidia will be releasing the final 8.0 toolkit this month, after which 8.0 support will be integrated into the next stable build. Basically, yes you can use your 1080 cards with Octane currently.
