high resolution causes BSOD

At last I only have 4 gb cards in my PC and if I want to render higher resolution images, my computer freezes immediately.
Up to 4K there is no problem, but if I reach 5000 pixel on the longer edge BSOD is comming.
Where should I start to look for the reason of freezing? Could the BSOD be caused by the small amount of System memory (8 gb)?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Using V3. In V2 times I had 590's :)

Yes, it's most likely caused by the small amount of system memory, since the film buffers need to fit into system memory and need to be page-locked (i.e. can't be swapped out while it's page-locked). Usually the page-locking should just fail and not crash the whole system, but that's my guess what is happening here.

Thanx Abstrax! I will get back with a feedback after memory upgrade.

New, 16 gb memories solved the problem. Thanks and sorry for asking dumb question!
