mapping properties not live updating

Hi Paul,

I just installed 3.0 and installed the latest rhino plug-in and I have some problems with the rhino texture mapping properties not updating in octane.

Live update is on for an object and moving, modifying materials works fine, but when I change the mapping parameters in the rhino properties panel no live update is happening. when I change the mapping type it does update the change immediately but not repeat/offset/rotation. These changes do also update, but need to be triggered by eg. moving the object.

regards,
Daniel

Yes, from memory this is a limitation of Rhino - where if you change an objects texture mapping properties, there is no "change" event sent to Rhino plugins. I recall reporting this to McNeel, however I will double check sometime this week.

Hi Paul,

Hi Paul,

not sure whether this is also due to a limitation in Rhino:

When I move a file to my laptop and cancel relinking/updating texture maps when I open it,
because I forgot to copy them with the Rhino file,
and I then take it back to the desktop, I find that it has removed the previous links to the texture maps.
Is there a way of avoiding this, short of always keeping my textures close to my Rhino files ?

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben - if you abort re-linking the files, Octane will then clear the filenames from the Image nodes for missing files, so when you save the .rhi file, it will be saved with blank filenames. So what you are experiencing is the expected behavior.
