How to "purge" the background image?

So, I've loaded an image in the viewport>kernel>background. It's got a funky aspect ratio.

Now I can't render anything in a different ratio. Even if I clear the path from the "background filename" box it still renders with the resolution override, no matter what I do. As far as I'm concerned, this is a bug.

It's worth mentioning that the image saves out fine, just like it should, however the aspect in the viewport is wrong.

Also, it would be great to have different "behaviors" for the background image. Such as: fit to view, fit horizontally, fit vertically etc. But standalone doesn't have it, so I guess that's beyond Paul's scope of work..

If anyone is having this issue, a simple workaround is to make a blank image of the resolution that you're aiming for and load it up as a background image, so the resolution override becomes the resolution that you want.

Yes, this looks like a bug - I will address this in the next release.
