Hi, I am currently rendering on a GTX960 ( which is not very fast )
I was wondering it was wise to install a better gpu along side the one already inside my PC.
Is octane going to take full advantage of the 2 gpus ? or am I better off buying the exact same gpu I have already ?

Thanks

PS : any news on when support for new nvidia 1080/1070 will be available ?

Hi!

I use a really old GTX 670 together with my GTX Titan and it works fine.
However, you will not have more memory available for rendering than your GTX 960 when both cards are enabled for rendering even if your new card has more memory on board.

I would use the old GTX card for your monitor and the new card for rendering to get really smooth display performance.
If the scene fits into memory for your final rendering you can enable both cards to speed things up.

Cheers
/Fredrik

Yeah, slower cards are fine. In my testing, my 970 didn't slow down my 4x 980 TI's. Its just that RAM limit. And if RAM is an issue, then just disable the weaker card for that render. Indeed, keeping the slower card to drive your monitor is a great way to go.
