Complete system crash with Octane

Hello
I purchased Octane after trying out the demo and really liked it. So after dropping the cash and using Octane plug-in for about a month now, I must say, I am pretty disappointed and very frustrated. When working in Octane, usually when I have the LiveViewerWindow going, my entire computer crashes! It freezes and then restarts, sometimes I have to restart it. What is this? This happens maybe twice to three times a day and as you might imagine, it is very annoying.
Any ideas of what I can do? I really like the Octane renderer but I can't deal with constant crashes in my workflow. I am close to going back to V-ray : (

Are you on OSX with a GTX 675MX 1024 MB?

Not directly a problem but single gpu on OSX is not fine for Octane. Also with low VRAM as this card. I suppose that OSX and C4D consumes most of VRAM and nearly impossible to render somethings. Additionally full system crash may mean that your gpu is much stressed or overheated. It's not about directly plugin itself or Octane. But i'll not deny for a refund to you if you bought it very recently. But don't know my agrement is enough for that.

Thanks for your reply. Thats what I thought, I have a hardware problem.
What are the minimum requirements to run Octane?
I would like to keep Octane because I find it easy to use and I am pleased with the quality. What would you propose as a solution? I suppose I could get a render slave computer and do network rendering? Does the LiveViewer work on a network render?

I think you should first monitor the temperature of system and gpus. I suppose that's directly about gpu or driver not cpu. Sometimes cleaning the fans of gpu/cpu/etc.. can help for overheating. Also if you have powerful PSU try to add additional graphic cards. Here Beppe is a master for Octane on Macos not me. So he can give better answers.

Hi chanson78,
unfortunately, right now, with net render you need a good GPU also in the Master, but later on a new version of Octane will bring the ability to render other the network even without any useful GPU in the master.
Another solution is to use the Thunderbolt port with an eGPU solution, here is a long discussion about that:

In this way you can use the integrated 675MX GPU for display only and add one or more powerfull GPUs only for Octane via Thunderbolt
ciao beppe

A software you can use to monitor temperature and change fan speed is
smcFanControl http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23049/smcfancontrol
Also is your GPU set to Low Priority ?

Thanks everyone for the helpful hints! Much appreciated.
Maybe its time to upgrade to some new hardware. I will give a look at the eGPU solution. Thanks bepeg4d!
Hi toto79, yes it is set to low priority.
