hair length mapping

Hi,
Is there a way to map a gradient or at least a root/tip mix along hair strand?
Hair renders really nicely in Octane but lacks some controls and we are bidding on a project with fur and would prefer Octane to be the renderer.

Thanks

Nope, sorry. Currently each hair only can have a constant color.

will this also be resolved with OSL?

Perhaps, yes. Once we have OSL to write shaders, a proper hair shader could be done with support of variable shading along the fibers.

Thanks,
