One year ago Otoy announced that Octane 3 would produce Volumetric primitives. I don't find any information about that with the new version? Is still a work in progress?
Any news?
thanks!

Indeed the Octane Render feature overview page, still claims that "OctaneRender v3 introduces a unique native primitive type for incredibly detailed micro-surface displacement volumes and surfaces"
BUT THIS IS NOT TRUE !! (marketing guys, you know ...

)

TRUTH from Octane main developer:

These were some experiments of a new type of primitive Andrey did at the beginning of the year. What you can't see in those pictures though is the insane amount of time he needed to generate those primitives (up to 10min). Since we couldn't find a good way to generate them fast enough, we didn't continue developing them and focused on gaseous volumetrics for now.
More seriously I think there's a lot of misleading information on the Octane product page, e.g. It is also written that V3 actually support OSL while this will only be a 3.1 feature...
But I guess it will be revamped when the new monthly subscription license are available.
