Render failed with proxies

Hi, i made an object with 1.5m polygons as proxy. I imported the proxy and i copied it a few times. 3ds max froze the first time i tried open the kernel and the 2nd time it crashed. Its the first time i used proxies btw, so idk if there is a problem there or whats going on with the polygons limitation etc. I thought since proxies i would have no issues. I am using the 3.0b2 - 3.10 beta.
thanks

have you checked "movable proxy" under octane's object settings? this and the copies have to be instances.
as far as I understand octane's proxy object is just a holder object for geometry (to keep your main file size low for example) and does not tell octane to treat it as a movable proxy.
cheers

I didnt get to the part to move the proxies. The render failed completely thats what im saying

And im wondering if this is normal.

you dont have to move the proxies

select the proxy (or object), right click, select "octane properies", check "movable proxy" then make some instanced copies of your object.
that BEFORE opening kernel.
this way the geometry count will not multiplied (what I guess is the reason for your render fail)

I do not want em as movable proxies. The render never started. I guess my english are bad , so i will describe again the issue
I exported my model as proxy. I imported it, copied it as instance and kernel never opened.
I do not plan to move em again so i do not care if are movable proxies or not. Unless thats something had to do with kernel crashing, which i doubt

"movable proxy" is a confusing name.
but it means that octane will treat the geometry as instance. you don't have to move the proxies of course but you HAVE TO tick "movable proxy" in order to not overflow your gpu memory if you for example make hundred copies of a high poly count object. This way the geometry will count ONE TIME and not 100x.
this is how octane instancing works and this is essential on huge scenes.
test it:
- make a box, apply a turbo smooth modifier with 8 iterations.
- open octane render viewport, make note of memory usage (on my system 0.440 gb)
- make an instanced copy of the box
- open octane render viewport, make note of memory usage it should be higher now (on my system 0.548 gb)
- select both boxes, right click -> octane properties -> movable proxy
- open octane render viewport, make note of memory usage it should be nearly the same like with one box (on my system 0.440 gb)
cheers

Ok, so even the octane proxy object must be a movable proxy, u saying this is my issue? thanks
