Mixing Displaced Materials

i am trying out my terrains and the usual approach is to have masks that serve to mix in different regions (ground, rock, snow...)
from what i am reading, the version 2 does not allow for mixing of displacement maps in any form.
is this something that is still a limitation in v3?
please, any insight would be helpful.
