Additional Maya Support

Hi Otoy
A query on the additional support for Maya.
How is this working?
I ask because Jim's last 50 or so posts on the forums only include 2 in the Maya forum.
The question is, do we genuinely have additional Maya support, or was k.a.schubert brought on, so Jim focus more on Max, Blender etc. (the Max VS3 plugin being released recently).
Cheers

Hi k.a.schubert
Just wondering if you can answer this query.
Has there been additional Maya support, or have you replaced Jim on the Maya side?
Just want to get a handle of how much additional support we have.
Cheers

Where is the Maya 3 beta now?
I have checked out Octane for Cinema4D yesterday and was amazed. ORBX import, tight integration, clear interface, various file format support. Everything simply works as expected.
I really hope that the new plugin for Maya has the same quality like the C4D one.

Any comments Otoy?
A week without a reply...sound familiar.
I know Otoy are busy with VS3, but a reply to a forum post doesn't take too long.
We were promised additional Maya support and I'm just asking how this is working, as we're 4 months behind other plugins and the previous main Maya developer, Jim is pretty busy on the Max plugin. So, I hope you understand my query on how the 'additional support' is working.

Actually, JimStar already answered you precisely in this thread, but I don't know why, he deleted his reply.
He was explaining that the additional support is that we have now a dedicated developer for the maya plugin, k.a.schubert, unlike JimStar before who was not "dedicated" to the maya plugin, working at the same time on other plugin and other things.

Ah, thanks. Can't remember reading that post. Shame the post was deleted.
On the additional support announcement, I was hoping for an 'addition' to Jim working on the Maya plugin.
I wasn't expecting Jim to move on to work on the other plugins as a result of the additional developer.
We had one dev (albeit working on multiple apps), and we still have one dev.

Kai is now lead on Maya and Jim is supporting him while working on Max and Blender

can we get at least little bit of transparency about what what is going on with Maya plugin now? We know that there is now a dedicated Maya developer, which is awesome, but the fact remains that Maya updates are 10x slower than some of the other "main" plugins and it's also pretty much radio silence on the Maya board whereas other plugin boards get answers right away, every time.
Like, will we be getting a 3.0 beta for Maya or will we have to wait till release to make it available? Will we not be seeing any further updates of 2.x between now and 3.0 release?
I'm not meaning to sound bitchy, but this near radio silence with 0 explanation is frustrating when we see that other plugins are getting actual support. The fact that we aren't getting updates nearly as fast (or even questions answered), I think we at least deserve to get some idea of why or a rough idea of timeline, especially for 3.0 betas.
Maybe you haven't noticed but people just quit even trying to ask questions on this board for the most part. I wouldn't be surprised if you've lost maya plugin customers based on this lack of support. (I'm considering being one of those people, honestly)

Yeah, that was my worry.
I hope Kai settles in well and brings us the updates and forum support more like C4D and Lightwave.
We're 4 months behind these plugins in terms of the VS3 testing release.
There was some mention a while back of some new features for Maya, Max and Blender.
Will these features be part of the VS3 plugin and are you able to share this with us.
Cheers

Please take a look at my post
here.
I'm really doing my best to improve the maya plugin.
Please consider that the API's for C4D and Maya are very different in ease of use as well.
Thanks,
Kai
