I have a problem with gamma.
3dsmax shows in viewport and saves files with gamma 1.0 but in preferences and file save setting specified gamma 2.2
in the CurrentDefaults.ini file also specified output gamma 2.2
Could you help me with it?
Thanks

I'm guessing my problem is related. In the Max viewports, when I apply Octane materials, everything appears really bright and washed out.
I have to switch to wireframe or clay mode to be able to work with the models.
I am running the latest plugin, but have lived with this same issue with previous versions.
I tried enabling gamma correction in Max's Preferences and set it to 2.2 but that didn't seem to help. What are the steps I need to take to correct this?
I browsed through some other discussions on gamma but don't really understand the topic. Does Otoy have an updated user guide that explains everything?
Thank you.

Hi,
It seems that you have come across the recent changes made to the plugin. These date back to the 2.16 release. The implementation of gamma was refactored to align with standard 3ds Max Gamma processing methodology.
This has been covered in great detail here:
viewtopic.php?f=80&t=52130.
Hopefully this resolves your issues.
Cheers,
Azen

Thanks for your reply.
Problem solved by reinstall Octane plugin.

i also have a question regarding gamma.
i'm not a supersuser - but i have figured out that max > preferences > gamma and lut > gamma should be set to 1.
this is so that materials look more real in the material browser - or?
but can it be right that i have to manually overwrite automatic gamma in the max framebuffer dialog every time i save an image?
i often forget this - and if i don't set override to 1 - the images are to bright :-/
am i'm doing something wrong?
thanks
