Alpha in Images

Any chance we can get proper Alpha outputs from the texture image node. Meaning if a texture has an alpha channel we can pull that channel through say an ALPHA output? Right now there isn't (that I know of) a way to easily grab the alpha from an image with Octane nodes...have to use others. this causes a problem when using projections...as LW nodes don't have the same Projection node!
Am I missing something.....is there another way to achieve this already...in 2.x or 3.0 beta (I'm using 3 beta currently)
