Modo Target Camera assembly not working

Hi Guys,

I have introduced a target camera into my scene, using the modo Target Camera AF assembly that is part of the content.

Octane does not seem to respect the movement of the target, so when the target is transformed the camera should rotate and should keep focus on the target.
Octane only seems to respond to direct transforms on the camera object.

Initially I though this is because the target in the orignal assembly is a locator and as such it has no Live Geo Update flag. But re-creating the assembly with the camera targeting a piece of geo with Live Geo Update activated doesn't work either.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how this can be worked-around? Or is there something I'm missing?

I have linked to a test scene with the assembly loaded, try moving the Target locator (it's under the TargetCameraRoot), to see the behaviour I'm talking about.

EDIT: In fact any animation on locators is not being picked up by Octane, so it makes sense that the camera assembly isn't working.

Hi - you are right - rigs like this do not trigger an immediate update to the Octane camera. However if you reload the scene you can see the new camera position is picked up. So in theory you should still be able to render the camera movement in animations (although I could not test this - couldn't work out how to keyframe the Target Position).

Hi Paul,

Yes your right the changes are reflected in the animation on reload.

What is the possibility that locators can have an up-datable option as geometry does?
I (and others no doubt), use locators for many things, for example in simple rigs such as the target camera rig and
I also often prefer to directly animate on locators rather than geo.

When the scene is small, then reloading it is inconvenient but possible. When the scene is heavy (with heavier load times), then it really becomes a problem for a fluid workflow in Octanes viewport.

This is certainly possible - however it may introduce lag when moving locators. I will investigate for the next release.

Thanks Paul, I think this could be a useful addition for sure.
