Function of 'UV Set' parameter in Imagetexture

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone could please explain the function of the 'UV Set' parameter in the imagetexture node? It's available once you click on 'projection'
Ideally I'm looking to use multiple UV maps to add decals to a texture - is this the key to doing it? When I change the param to anything other than the default 1, my textures seems to disappear. If Someone could help explain the function of this, I'd be very grateful!
Thank you

It's for assigning different uv sets. But there is a brick which missing. I couldn't built/implemented a good way to assign/export additional uv sets from C4D material workflow. It will work when i do.

Hey, thanks for letting me know.
I know c4d doesn't support multiple UV maps, I was wondering if this was a method for 'unlocking' such a feature.
Thanks

possible ideas are to add custom data to texture tag for giving uvset or using name of texture tag's. Brain has been blurred due this lack.

Cinema does support multiple UV maps. The material always uses the UV tag to its right.
