Powering off Titan X cards in Mac Pro??

Im running three GFX cards in two Mac Pros - two Titan X's and one GTX980 - and they generate a lot of heat even when not in use. Is there a way to turn them off or somehow deactivate them without shutting the Macs down? I could simply turn off the external PSUs but I assume that will cause a crash. They are networked and don't have displays attached though I do use screen sharing to manage them.
Ideas, thoughts?

Hi sdanaher,
as far as I know, I guess that the only solution is to temporarily remove or rename some of the Nvidia kext files in System/Library/Extensions and reboot, but I don't know if it's a practical solution for you and if there is a more clean and easy solution :rool:
Another solution could be to have another HD with a copy of your HD but without the nvidia drivers installed and reboot from there

Thanks for the reply beppe
If a reboot is always going to be necessary I can use the command to revert to OS X native drivers in the NVidia control panel (it asks to reboot). I've turned off the external PSU so we'll see if leaving the card in there causes any issues.
