For Volume Animation, "BE_VDBWrite" for frame sequence in output for example "InsertFX_####.vdb" but make sure "Time" graph link to "OpenVDBfromMayaFluid" and "BE_VDBWrite" in order works with frame sequences. More Details: ( viewtopic.php?f=33&t=51681&start=110 )
Working Fine in Maya 2016 but some people said it wont work on older maya.

Yes just find a easy way "volume. $F4. Vdb"
And it's working perfect

Rendering a vdb using Octane Volume Medium within Maya

I have a different question.
I am able to export vdb sequences and single files (using OpenVdb for Maya in 2017) I can import them into Octane 3 Standalone and render them fine...
Can I render a vdb (lets say generated by OpenVdb... using VDBFromPolygons) using Octane Render by assigning a Octane Volume Medium material to the vdb that OpenVdb VDBWrite uses to write teh file out.... but instead have it stay IN maya and just assign the Volume Medium to it?
In otherwords ... anyway to IMPORT or KEEP the vdb file in IN maya and just assign octane medium to it????
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,
I don't think is possible on the maya plug to set a open vdb file to render I think they only convert maya fluids for the moment. is missing a read Node maybe we should request for a next release.
I use the plug from soup now is working perfect because Arnold is inclued on maya so the soup open vdb works perfect. for mesh creations and etc. Like for houdini after cached on alembic we can render well with Octane.
For open vdb fluids I think the plug convert to maya fluids I'm not sure but of corse would be great to have a openvdb reader from Octane plug
Best,
JO

Thanks Jo
OpenVdb has a read vdb... but I think it 'links' out to the file so it is not brought in but rather 'linked' to then acted on by other OpenVdb nodes. So you can read on in convert it to fluids, or convert polys to vdb etc... but not actually read it in.
I might give SOUP a try.
This might be a dumb ass question.. but if it Soup reads it in for Arnold to render... can you not use SOUP to import it then just use Octane to render it??
Thanks
Peter

So all operation is available for open and you can use with Octane I do in production
