Accurate Material Libraries?

I'm looking for a physically accurate material library for Octane 2.24.2+ for 3ds Max. Where can I find one?

The LiveDB doesn't have near enough, the quality varies a lot, and not all of them work. Not to mention browsing them in Max takes forever (especially compared to the C4D plugin).

Has anyone converted the Autodesk Material Library to Octane?

Converting our vray and mr materials on a scene by scene basis is not fast enough and is error prone. We don't have time to double check every material we are applying for missing textures, correct IOR, inverted roughness mats, etc.

most of them are just bitmaps nothing special Hopefully in octane 3 we will have real procedural materials or we will be able to create some using Open Shader Language

i hope otoy team can create great procedural material for us using Open Shader Language that we can BUY. Like itunes. It would benefit us and they could make a lot of money

At this point I would take just substance support so I could use the substance database.

Any resources out there to verify what IOR we should be using in Octane? I've found other charts online, but I don't know if just plugging in those values (if they have the right thing listed for what I need) is actually accurate.

Hi,

The IOR resources you linked should serve you well in most cases. One case where IOR alone will not be sufficient is in the case of Metals. In this case, you will also need K and N values to go with the metal's IOR. Here is a link to a resource that may be of assistance to you viewtopic.php?f=73&t=43973

Generally, plugging in the right IOR values will be sufficient, though there may be need for minor tweaking to achieve the exact look you want - the IOR values you have referenced are a perfect starting point that will get you most of the way.
