Hello at all,

I hope this is the right place for my posting :-)

I installed the Demoversion of Octane and it works fine on my system.
So I want to buy this Software as a Standalone.

It seems that a new Version (Octane 3) will be released in the near future.
So my question is, if i would purchase Octane 2, can I get the Version 3 for a lower price or even for free ?
How much will it cost ? Or should I wait for Octane 3 ?

Sorry for my english, i am German :-)

Thanks a lot.

Hi eumel,
yes, a new version of Octane is coming in the next month, but since developing on GPU is quite new, there is not yet an exact date.
Anyway Otoy has decided to offer to v2 users the possibility to test and use all the v3 alpha and beta versions that will be published until the official v3 realisation.
Then you will decide if you want to do the update to v3 or continue to use v2, based on your needs. All the alpha and beta v3 versions will stop to work, and you will need to buy the update in order to use v3.
There is not an official statement on the final price of v3, but what we know for sure is that the final price of v3 will be equal to the price of v2 plus the cost of the v3 upgrade.
In short, it makes much more sense to buy now v2 instead of waiting for the final v3, I think :)

Hello beppe,

thanks a lot for your response ;)

Okay, if I undertand this correctly, the release will be in march ?
And v3 is more expensive as v2, isn't it ?

greetings
