Hello!
I'm migrating from a mac pro 12 core 3,03 Ghz to a PC configuration cause I want to integrate GPU rendering (Octane) I'll use VrayRT too and After Effcts cc2014 (multiprocessing mode), houdini/realflow for fluid particles.

This is the machine details:

cpu: Intel Core i7-5960X 3,0 GHz (Haswell-E) Socket 2011v3

motherboard: X99-E WS 3.1 DDR4 extended-ATX Socket 2011-3

GPU's: 2 x Gigabyte GTX980 Ti - G1 Gaming - Liquid Cooled
RAM: 64GB Kit Vengeance LPX DDR4-2400 CL14 (8x8GB)
SSD: Samsung 950 Pro da 512GB Pci-Express
HD: 4TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA - Sata 6GB/S 64mb
WATER COOLING: XSPC Kit Water Cooling RayStorm D5 EX420
FAM: 2 x NOCTUA VENTOLA 140x150 - NF-A15-PWM

My doubt are about cpu's choice cause I need multiprocessing speed mainly for AEcc2014 and C4D dafuault renders engine so what i7 vs E5 in this sitution?
What do you think about overclocking CPU and GPU's, everything is watercooled, what about right temperatures for 100% performance?

One factor to consider is that you can overclock the i7 but you can't overclock the Xeon chips. 8 cores at ~4.2Ghz is pretty good.

Second, how do you plan on water cooling those 980 Tis? The kit you list only covers the CPU. One option would be to go with the 980 Ti Hybrids.

The configuration will have also water cooling for GTX, the 2 gigabyte are watercooled, at least there are the agreement with pc assembler shop.

yes I will consider to overclock CPU, what about overclock GPU's also considering them watercooled?

As long as you know the GPUs are getting cooled, that's fine. The only reason I asked is because you list an AIO CPU cooler in your parts list and, as far as I know, you can't add GPUs to that particular unit. If you had the EK Predator 360 AIO, you could add GPUs to that. Just make sure you understand what the PC shop is giving you before you throw any cash down.

As for overclocking the GPUs, that's totally doable. In fact, the ASUS Motherboards have a auto-overclock feature that's actually supposed to be pretty good. Especially for people like me who don't know much about manual overclocking. You always have the option to manually overclock, of course.

CPU Speed is stagnant; therefore whether it's a older or newer 4,6 or 8 core PC you should run octane better then fine, excellent.
