Maciek3d inspired me to check out world machine and very fun indeed! Here are a few of my first renders inside octane of a snowy mountain. (*edit. Guess forums don't like .tif. Re-uploaded jpeg version).

Great work!
How do you transfer your maps and geometry from World Machine? There are few approaches and i didn't found what works the best for me:
1. Export height map used as displacement map on a plane in octane + bitmap textures for texturing in octane
2. Export high res mesh from World Machine and only texture it in octane
3. export low poly mesh and normal map
etc...
what approach are you using?
Thanks

Hi Yambo,
Thanks! The first method you listed of exporting a displacement map and using a plane is my main approach. I'll put a turbosmooth modifier on the plane and increase the iterations as needed (7 - 8) to increase the resolution. The textures I export as a 16 bit .png and they can be applied as a diffuse texture for a glossy material. Making sure the bitmaps have the proper information (flow maps and such) from WM is the key. Normal maps are also something you can export from WM in the converter tab which helps to add some extra detail. Takes a few tries to remember the process, but I used this tutorial a few times if I forgot anything:

Hope this helps! Looking forward to seeing your work.
