It would be nice to get some sort of acknowledgment if you are even planning on making a plugin for the 3.0 alpha. And even better some sort of timeline. I'm sure there is a lot to do and I don't mean to sound pushy but in order for us 3ds max users to test 3.0 alpha we need the plugin

. Please at least tell us if its in the works or not. And a timeline would be the icing on the cake

It's being worked on.
All our plugins should be v3 ready by final release. See my other post in the v3 thread for details.

Thank you Goldorak for the reply. I'm aware that the 3.0 plugin will be available for the production release. I'm more curious if we will have the plugin for the alpha or beta stages. Are there any plans to release the plugin before the production version is released. I've seen a few plugins like Cinema 4d released already. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the standalone version. Seems a bit unintuitive for me. I can't even figure out how to import an openVDB...And I need to test the volumetric rendering capabilities ASAP. Thanks again for any help or information you can give

Yes, there will be 3.0 alpha/beta plugin releases. The work on it goes on.
But don't expect it "ASAP". 3ds Max and Maya plugins will get one additional complex functionality in addition to all the new 3.0 features, so it will take time to rework these plugins for 3.0.

Jim's working on it. He is also concurrently developing a very important new (and still experimental) feature for 3.x . We're looking to first test this via the forthcoming V3 Blender, Max and Maya plug-ins.

It's going to be for all plug-ins. Jim will be testing how it works first in the ones he is developing himself, then we can make it an official feature for all plug-ins to add.
It wasn't in the V3 roadmap at first as we weren't sure it would be viable in the near term. After some initial work by Jim, we now have a more optimistic outlook on rolling an ETA.
There is always a chance we have missed something, so we're doing further validation and testing right now.
Once we have a demonstrable prototype, we'll share more details.

Hi,
I'm going to buy the 5th Octane license.
But I will never upgrade my working Max plugins to 3.0 if you will not implement a full working scene converter and the Vray-Mray translators embedded with the plugin itself.
You don't need Einstein to implement these basic features.
regards.
