Hi there, everything installs ok, but when I start Octane Render up, it flashes the splash screen, and then exits. On your web-site you specify that it only works with the CUDA 3.0 drivers. Could the fact that I have 3.2 installed be the issue?

Yes, that could be the reason. Please try it with CUDA 3.0 and let us know, if it works then. It could be the graphics driver, too. Which GPU are you using and which driver did you install?

I have an FX3800 for display and two C2050s. I just downloaded the latest NVIDIA driver (260.19.36) and it did not help.

I will try to install the 3.0 dev drivers and see what happens.

I had 100% crash on Ubuntu when using 3.2 Cuda. 3.0 should definitely do the trick for you.

gdm was NOT happy when I installed 3.0 over 3.2, and I couldn't for the life of me get 3.2 to re-install. The NVIDIA install couldn't find the source-tree, even though it had installed fine the first time. I tried re-installing kernel-devel ... no luck.

Now I can only boot to single user mode. My X is fubar.

I had no such issue with gdm, but I had to manually delete cuda 3.2 because otherwise everytime ldconfig was launched by an update it relinked the 3.2 libs instead of the 3.0 ones. BTW, I've not tried with NVidia 260.19.36, I'm still running 260.19.29 on a 2.6.32-28 kernel.

Try a bit older driver. The 256.53/cuda 3.0 works for me GF7100onboard/9500GT. Switch cuda version is simply. As yoyoz wrote delete the /usr/local/cuda folder then run cuda installer.

No luck. Ubuntu 10.10 doesn't seem to like the 64-bit 3.0 drivers. It hangs whenever I try to install them. I've just managed to get my system back to a functional state now, and I'm a bit leery of futzing with the display drivers again. Any estimate of when Octane Render will be tested against the CUDA 3.2?

We tested it with CUDA 3.0 and 3.2 and as far as I can see, people have been using Octane successfully the CUDA 3.0 and 3.2 builds. I still don't understand exactly what the problem here is: Can't you install the graphics drivers? Or can't you install the CUDA toolkit? Which versions have you been trying to install and how did you install the driver/toolkit? Using the NVIDIA packages or something else?

I have been using the NVIDIA installers downloaded from their site, devdriver_3.0_linux_64_195.36.15.run for 3.0, and devdriver_3.2_linux_64_260.19.26.run and cudatoolkit_3.2.16_linux_64_ubuntu10.04.run for 3.2. The 3.0 installer hangs half way through and leaves X in an unusable state. I have to re-install using the 3.2 installers to get X back.

I can compile and run the CUDA and OpenCL demos without any problem.

But when I start up octanedemo, I get the following.
