Octane options lost

Hi,

I disabled the Octane plugin for my daily Rhino use because avoiding crashes. So, some times I opened a scene and than I load the Octane plugin for rendering per Octane. In this cases the Octane setup is reset, for example the HDRI env settings are lost. Maybe it can be fixed.

Ciao,
Micha

Hello Micha,

Do you have stability issues?
Here it runs pretty solid...
I guess you know about the possibility to save and load render targets (aka rendersettings) with a right click in the octane settings window?

Best

I'm unaware of any stability issues. McNeel have not sent me any crash reports lately, which means no one has submitted a crash report where the crash happened in Octane.

If you save a scene when the plugin is not enabled, the Octane data will not be saved. There is not much that can be done able that - it the plugin is not installed, it cannot save it's own data.

The crashes are an old problem never been fixed:
viewtopic.php?f=25&t=49720&p=246092&hil ... sh#p246092

My workaround - I disabled the Octane plugin and enable it if needed only. I wished I could disable the Octane material message, since I don't need it and it cause the crashes here.

If have a scene with a Octane setup from some days before and open the scene during Octane isn't loaded and load Octane, than the setup isn't read. I think, there is some code missing to load the setup from the file for this case.

Thanks Andy, I know that I can save the setup, but some times I don't saved it.

It absolutely shouldn't be crashing! If you can get me a crash report, I will take a closer look to try to identify the cause.
