Hi

As the topic says, iam searching for other user experience with a linear workflow in max and octane.
Is there a need to tweak the default settings in max (for example gamma & lut ?)
Or should i tweak the tone mapping gamma to 2.2?
Input images are set by default to gamma 2.2 are there other color managements to create a linear workflow in max?
What kind of output settings should i do?

Ive read this topic

Sry for the stupicd questions but I didnt undestand how to prepare the way for linear workflow.

Iam grateful for every tip

Thx

Hi,
To work in linear workflow I do fiew steps:
1 - Disable any gamma corretion in 3ds max options
2 - In octane render settings, in the imager tab choose linear response.
That's it! Hope it helps

Also you can unceck overall tonemaping feature and correct gamma in post, but I prefer to use gamma 2.2 in imager with linear response. It alloww you to see correct final result and use linear color space for input colours.

The Gamma/LUT correction has to remain enabled and set to 2,2.

gamma LUT should be 2.2 not 1.0 . in this case, will correct the color sample eyedropper from images in the screening programmes is taken from the monitor screen.

I only suggest the employment of forum moderating/support staff as I assume the actual developers themselves must be working absolutely flat out to have such little interaction.
I do not believe there is any other reason.
By the way it is my job to advise, maintain and evaluate licenses for all our employees who are given free range on their render engine choice, forum communities are a big deal to us.
Just look how Vray and Corona has been driven by their respective communities.
If I seem quite vocal, it is because I really like and want to promote the product... it must surely be good for everyone to have some open honest discussion here and develop a great interaction between developer and customer.

I second that, very poor or entirely non-existent response to some very clear and obvious questions overall. Boo.

Ok, here is an indirect answer from your developer :)

"Improved gamma processing, to allow a proper linear workflow. Don't set Octane's "tonemapped" checkboxes if you have 3ds Max gamma enabled."
