Hi to all, wanted to imitate drops in the way they're are often showed in macro photography... here are some references.. http://pureadrenalin.deviantart.com/gallery/28001450#

I'm not pleased yet... d'like to have some suggestions about the water material and a nice colorful HDR with nice contraste that I could use... and yes, the heartshape of the drop is meant for the upcoming Valentines's day...

Modelled in Sculptris and Blender 2.5, Rendered in Directlighting (I've tried pathtracing but doesn't seem to do a better job with transparent materials). Crits welcome...

This is way too phallic. Also it doesn't really read as a heart. If you could line up the HDRI so the heart refracted red light that might be cute.

I would take and use an HDRI that has an inverted heart shape on it, in red, and line that up with the heart, that way when the inverted reflection comes through, it's got the shape of the heart light in it, and the light will likely be fairly abstract in the system.

with regards to water surfaces, i use the 1.333 IOR, with about a .8 to .9 opacity and a middle reflection level ( somewhere in the .4 to .6 range.

See a water drop one I just did here: http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... f=5&t=5169.

also, use a very slight turbulence bump map on all but the round part in the air, and it will help to to give it a nice watery look, that's to taste though.

I've also attached a wireframe of the water drop model I made for you before the subsurf is applied.
