Kingpin edition?

Hi,

I want to purchase a new Nvidia. I've ordered the GTX780 GB in May at Amazon but they still havent sent them (and I think they wont get it anymore).
But now I found the EVGA 780ti Kingpin edition for a good price I think.
Is there something bad about this Kingpin thing? I thought Evga would be a good choice.

Greetings Angela

I do own EVGA GPU & for some reason (mainly because of their comunity & warranty policies) do like the company (ASUS, GIGABYTE would be amoung other choises, only then I would even start looking elswhere).

780Ti will be only 3GB, what is not so much if You try to get hardware now.. as I think even 6GB cards You can find for 200GBP/ 300EU/ 400$ new & used for even less. So it depends what is the price You get it?

Overall K|NGP|N eddition cards have very efficient cooling & nicelly placed I/Os on the back, so You could even shrink the card to single slot if needed when watercooled (equiped with compact waterblock).

if You are going to use this card as only GPU - it will work very good on air, but if You put it against other card with backplate, this cooler will have hard time to work very effectivelly. Consider the fact this type of cooler will dump all the heat back into the case, so You need better airflow if You would like to keep good temp inside.

hope that helps =)

it's not a bad price for this card =) however 3GB migh be a bit too little (as I mentioned, for thsi price You can get 6GB 780s) - depending on Your workflow, vRAM might matter or not..-so make Your call based on Your needs =)

There is no more vendor selling the 6gb version in germany. And I dont want a used one or a new from oversea. That just brings trouble if I would have problems with the card.
My actualy card only has between 768MB and 1gb (there are 4 versions and I dont know which I am owning) and 336 Cores. So 3gb/2880Cores will be enough for me I hope. I am using Octane Poser Plugin for my renders (not much complex scenes).

Thanks again

think with "out of core texture" functionality even 3GB will be enough =) Yeah, older cards like 6GB 780s are EOL (End Of Life) products & noOne sells them now, unles.. You find some left overs that go on sale before they are left to dust & thrown away..
