allways need for speed - new years competition 2011 WIP

hi,
this is my wip topic of my new years competitions entry:

modelling and texturing was completely done with blender 2.5-
the original scene counts about 2,2mio faces. textures were made with eos550d, gimp, autopano and inkscape.
lit by hdri and mesh emitters.
gtx470/800mb vram used... ..linux v2.4 ...:)

Really astonishing. The details, man!... how long did it take to model all that stuff?

The illumination is a little less appealing in some shots, somewhat dark. I guess this is all directlighting?

time is relative:)
the cases/mixer/speakers/rack+vinyl where "day jobs" each. the turntables, they took some time, exspeacily texturing/image retouch was somehow very time consuming:)
i wait for the 2.4 linux release before tweaking the lighting. the export with this big scene is somehow weak atm 2.3v5 as you know.
i have downsized a lot of tex to fit into vram.

I hear you. Since I create all the textures myself, I also spend a lot of time at this stage, going back & forth between Gimp & Octane (I'm hearing that in 2.4, there's a image reload icon :D) - never to be satisfied at 100%. But this is time well spent.

after my dsl (internet) broke last night + i managed to get some wireless umts stick work to render with octane overnight..
i was astonished that it works without any probems with ubuntu10.10 no driver needed:) blah blah.

..but now i must realize that i am too late!! :o :( "closed" omg
