Round Edges Artifacts

Hi,

Just purchased Octane for Max 2015 and have found that any geometry I use round edges on, I get artifacts.
I am working in mm and scale is set accordingly, I am using the latest release.
Is it still an issue/bug to be resolved or is there something I am missing on my end, want to check before reporting it.

Ok, at least it is not all tumble weed here.

I assume you mean the problem is with the mesh topology, well there is the problem.
I deal with NURBS translated data, so clean quad and poly topo is not an option (I tried increasing mesh density but the problem still occurs).

So can someone clarify that Octane's round edge only works on clean, uniform topology.
I am aware that on other render engines this is not a limitation, so would it be possible to address this in Octane?

Thanks for your time.

What other render engines support edge rounding?

Mental ray ---- Corona render (CPU - render)\
possible Redshift render

but we should not compare them with octane render you will be bored to work in them

The MentalRay rounded edge looks lousy, too! :-)))
Though the radius is much smaller than in the Octane example...

Vray too of course.

Wow, didn´t know that VRay can do that! Just tried it out, works fine!

On the other hand, Octane Edge Rounding does not....
it only does on very simple shapes with straight edges.
it´s not a topology issue. i tried a very simple and clean object...

Oh right, that's interesting, so it is a broken feature then or one in development, surprised a mod has not commented about it.
It works perfectly in Corona too. I will go out on a limb and guess it is a lot harder to implement in a GPU renderer, no idea, hope it works soon!

Its broken since ages.... :-/
I keep chamfering my models where I need to with a slight value and use a lot of boxmapping anyway.
