Regis studio pointed out that he had his Cubix working under El Cap.
He has a Titan X internal and 4 titan's in the cubix

So i wanted to know for myself,

It seems apple has allowed external gpu's again,
But with a catch it seems... This is from my testing so i curious to see or hear from others,

All cards externally MUST be the same... I could not boot with mixed cards on my Amfeltec.
No more than 2 different cards in total... See testing below.

Although they allow external cards. it seems every card has to be the same on the Cubix/Amfeltec
and a MAX on 2 different cards.
This is from my personal testing....

NO BOOT
Slot 1 - 980ti
Slot 2 - K4200
Slot 3 - Amfeltec 2x 980's + 1 980ti

Slot 1 -
Slot 2 - K4200
Slot 3 - Amfeltec 2x 980's + 1 980ti

Slot 1 -
Slot 2 - K4200
Slot 3 - Amfeltec 2x 980's + 2 980ti's

BOOT
Slot 1 - 980ti
Slot 2 - K4200
Slot 3 - Amfeltec 980ti

Slot 1 - 980ti
Slot 2 -
Slot 3 - Amfeltec 2x 980's

Slot 1 -
Slot 2 - K4200
Slot 3 - Amfeltec 2x 980ti's

Im off to buy me some 980ti's for more testing.... :D :D :D :D :D

think apple is gearing up for an upgrade of new MacPro =) new type of Thunderbolt is coming that will make eGPU to work much mo fluent..so they code, preparing the soil to leverage this feature =) anyway - good news for Octaners! Thanks for sharing.

Just asking perhaps the obvious here...

I am assuming you still had to go rootless and modify ktext files etc in order to do this... It was not plug-in-play correct???

Thanks

Peter

Looks like you can't run more than 2 Maxwell cards in El Capitan, but you can run up to 5 GPU's. See updated thread here:

How long does it usually take you guys to get Apple's permission to use the bathroom? ;)

Frank.. if I was not so busy crying I'd laugh... I have used apple and PC for various times over my career and I like both for different reasons.... but the he way Apple has slowly made it harder and harder for a professional to do work is a crime...and yet here I am still trying!!!

Sorry I gotta go and ask Apple if it is OK if I poop :D
