hi

i'm a big fan of peter guthrie and the amazing moods that he manage to create in his illustrations.

i would like to be able to create moods like he has done in the attached image, but i don't really don't know where to start :-/

so for leaning i have created a copy of the scene (test.jpg) and started to experiment, but i could use some tips.

should i use
- PT (or pmc?)
- octane daylight or octane light plane or hdri for a scene like this? (in test.jpg i have used octane daylight)
- linear responce?

any tips are welcome :-)

thanks
jorgensen

I think you should use any of his HDRIs as a starter. To light your scene. That particular one has a pretty cloudy grey sky.
And use PT.

You can even find what exact hdri he used for theese shots in his blog. If you want to try the same.

"The HDRi sky used for all of these shots was 1008."

Buy it and try it!

Use PT and the cloudy HDR from Peter. No Daylight.

Maybe also try the birch tree image from his render with applied texture emission. You can correct the levels afterwards in Photoshop/Lightroom.
