Zdepth problem

Hi All,
Can anyone help me in getting the Zdepth pass? I'm getting a strange result, only black and white without any depth.
When I render the image, I'm just dropping down the passes from the virtual frame buffer and select the Zdepth and what I get is just like an alpha image.
Please help
thank you
Max

Hi, i think you need to switch kernel to "Info Channel" first, so that you can adjust the value of "Z-depth max" under that kernel type.

Hi Akira, thank you for your reply. I appreciate
Actually if I go to the info channel and set the Zdepth max value and if I render using the info channel kernel, I get the right zdepth in the image as the Beauty Pass (see image) but if I change to the PT kernel again, it renders as shown before (see image) even though the max value is set. So I'm confused about the passes being shown in the virtual frame buffer when you render with the right kernel type. I thought that the passes were shown in the same window when you render and it was just a matter of dropping down the menu.
I'm not sure if this is the way to go to get the zdepth, you have to render twice to get the pass? one for the beauty path using PT for example and the other using info channel?
I apologize if the answers are obvious, I'm learning and trying to get the right workflow before using Octane in production.
Thank you so much!

you're right, the kernel reads z-depth max value only on info channel when using octane viewport. i think this should be fixed.
but if you add a z-depth pass under Render Elements tab, you can set z-depth max value for it.
then you set a proper number of max samples and render using max's render button, the window containing z-depth pass will pop-up when the render is done.

Thanks again Akira!!
I realized that I was setting the max value in the info channel and not in the render elements tab!
Now it works well
Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it
