JimStar, please fix realflow mesh update :)

I am sure it is easy thing, but we can't do this in a neat way.
And how to render motion blur from velocity channel of vertices? There are many issues with deform motion blur - I guess these need special attention, since octane is used mostly for animation renderings.
It is great with fluid renderings too, but right now we have to use vray proxy to import alembic files from realflow. No motion blur, though.

All the best and great plugin. Cant wait for volumetric data support in 3.0
:)

Regarding realflow. I'm almost sure the support of Octane properties must be implemented by realflow, not vice-versa. But I can't check it unfortunately - as I don't have the realflow license.

Regarding vector motion blur: it was discussed previously - and I've implemented it, and was forced to disable this code after that. Because there is a bug in 3ds Max that does not allow to use the vertex velocities data loaded from embedded alembic files...
It was explained here: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=48539&p=242154#p242154

Norman_Stansfield, motion blur you can get in octane standalone. to open stitched alembic file correctly in octane standalone, you must open it in Houdini as Houdini geometry and re-save it.

Jim star - how about 3ds max 2016? They improved alembic support extensively, including gpu caching, retiming and so on. Maybe vertex motion blur alembic data is supported there?
About realflow licence - there is 30 day trial present, so maybe you can check that it is octane or realflow fault (about updating meshes). It would make every realflow user life much much easier. :)

About houdini: I am not familiar with Houdini, but there is alembic stitcher option in every realflow, so you dont have go through houdini.

Thanks for great job Jim, I have no further complaints, the plugin is almost perfect. You're helping a lot of people by porting it to 3dsmax. I persuaded one vfx company to migrate from vray to octane and they are slowly implementing it :)

Unfortunately 3ds Max 2016 has this bug too.

without Houdini you not open stitched alembic file in octane standalone.

Jim star - I think vray has the same protocol of reading realflow .bin files and refreshing them every frame during rendering. And in vray rt it works. I am sure it is some very simple bug in 3dsmax octane - bin file updates every frame in viewport, but not in frame range rendering.
If you want, I can provide a link for demo version of realflow and a simple scene to test it.

all the best.

so does mental ray and standard 3ds max render. they all refresh realflow bin mesh every frame and work like a charm
