Optimizing texture impact?

Hello,
I think I have a problem with the amount of textures.
The reason I think it's not a polygon problem is because I have rendered the entire scene with just one diffuse shader with the same lightning setup without any problems.
First thought it was some form of Maya issue so I tried to switch version and OS to see if it was that.
Dualbooted to OSX (hackintosh) and it did have the same problem.
I thought it was a driver issue and installed the latest version: 355.82.
I'm not getting any warnings in the maya script editor regarding running out of memory.
I use Open Hardware Monitor to monitor GPU and the memory gets loaded to 96,6% on both, but gpu cores are idle at 0%.
In the script editor it seem to load as usual but I'm not seeing any rendering ( Octane: Refreshed image, XX samples per pixel of XXX does not post in script editor)
Do anyone know how to bypass this? I have written down as much information as I can think of at the moment.
Would be great of anyone could help.
This is what I see after it has exported the meshes:
// 0:10 ...done setting Mesh data in 0:00 //
// 0:10 Voxelizing... //
// 0:10 ...voxelized in 0:00 //
// 0:10 ...done creating meshes //
// 0:10 Octane mesh data is set to render engine. //
// 0:23 Octane engine: Target node is set... //
// 0:23 Octane: Scene export complete. //
// 0:23 Setting refresh rate to 100 ms... //
// 0:23 ...done //
