Not sure what's going on. Running the 7.8 package installer on Yosemite. It completes, but there's no sign of Octane in the Maya (2015 or 2016) plugins pref pane.

Any ideas? Can I manually install the plugin files somehow?

Are you installing the commercial version or demo?

Commercial version. I had it installed previously (also commercial version but unlicensed–I was using it to verify some scripting control before purchase). At that time it showed up and loaded even though it wasn't licensed.

Yesterday downloaded latest Octane and Octane Maya, installed, licensed Octane full and installed the latest Maya plugin. No sign of the octane plugin in the Maya plugins settings window. Not even my pervious install...?

Thank you for report, I'll check it. But take into account that OSX installer will not install the files that are present in some other folders of your computer. So, if you have "backed up" some plugin files before installing - you can get this behaviour.
You can install the previous OSX plugin version if so far... The OSX plugin is for Maya 2016.

OK, so a quick update:

Installed the 5.6 version of the plugin and everything works fine. Tried to install the 7.8 again afterward and got the same situation (in Maya 2015) : The plugin files go missing. I get a message during launch that Maya went looking for the Octane plugin files and couldn't find them.

My assumption then is that the 7.8 installer removes the 5.6 plugins but fails to install the new ones.
